Continuing to encourage our creative writers in all their endeavors, Keakalehua kicked-off a new "special interest" series of readings, to be held on the second Wednesday of each month, as needed. Liko Lehua Nights feature:
Screenplays
Fully Hawaiian Language scripts
Short stories and novel excerpts “Book Club” style (read first, then discuss in group)
Poetry Readings
So if you have something that you've kept locked in your desk drawer until now, it might be time to take that out and dust it off!
Liko Lehua Nights bloomed on Zoom in January, 2026. Works read in this special-interest series are listed below.

Liko Lehua Night Readings...
1/14/26
Our first Liko Lehua Night featured Lolo, a screenplay by Kepano Richter (one of the playwrights who kicked off our very first online playreading back in 2020). Lolo is a local adaptation of The Wizard of Oz that addresses issues of suicide, methamphetamine use, addiction and other challenges we face in the islands in this post-post-colonial time.
